Introducing our new Assistant Transport Planner: George Easton

The Transportation Consultancy (ttc) welcomes our newest team member, George Easton, who joins as Assistant Transport Planner.

George brings a wealth of academic knowledge, practical project experience, and a passion for sustainable transport solutions. George graduated with a BA Hons in Urban Design, Planning, and Development.

Adrian Simms comments,

“I am thrilled to have George join the Leamington Spa office, where I know he will be a key asset to the team and company. George joined us after successfully completing his degree course at Oxford Brookes University, where his studies and recent dissertation presentation were recognised with an award.

George made a lasting impression on us following his work experience at the beginning of 2024. We knew that he was an exceptional and bright individual, and this shone through in the delivery of his work and his calm approach to new challenges. Since his return, he’s hit the ground running and brings a great team spirit and fun to the office.

George will play a key part in the continued growth of ttc and will exceed our clients’ expectations with his eye for detail and work ethic – Welcome to ttc”.

Award-winning dissertation & notable projects

One of George’s proudest achievements is his award-winning dissertation on planning positive public realms to support sustainable transport. This research was recognised for its excellence and published, contributing valuable insights to the field. Backing up his theory, George has gained hands-on experience working on several significant projects:

  1. Bayswater Brook Development (Oxford): This project involved the creation of 1,450 new homes on the edge of Oxford. George provided holistic urban design and transport planning input to Christchurch College and Dorchester Homes, presenting monthly updates to the client. A major highlight was the development of a new A40 pedestrian and cyclist-only crossing, addressing existing site segregation issues. This innovative idea was incorporated into the master plan.
  2. Carpenter’s Estate Regeneration (London Borough of Newham): George created a masterplan for regenerating the Carpenter’s estate near the Olympic Village, involving 288 units across 1.82ha. The project adopted a transport-led regeneration approach, integrating various modes of transport. Additionally, George worked on an urban farming project to demonstrate potential income generation from inner-city farms. The master plan also included new access to Stratford International Station and dedicated cycle routes.
  3. Additional Projects of Significance are a Town centre master plan for Faringdon Town Council, Oxford Regeneration at Blackbird Leys Centre, Docklands regeneration with Greater London Authority and the Borough of Newham Brownfield Development at Carpenter’s Estate. These projects highlight George’s versatility and capability to handle diverse urban planning and transport challenges.

What George will bring to ttc clients

As an Assistant Transport Planner at ttc, George will leverage his experience and skills to deliver exceptional value to our clients. Our clients can expect George to bring high-level graphic skills, confident presentation and communication abilities, and a holistic understanding of Transport Planning and urban design to their projects. These skills ensure that all projects are well-conceived and communicated clearly to stakeholders. George’s previous local and regional government experience equips him with the right insight to navigate complex planning environments effectively.

George comments,

“I’m thrilled to join ttc as an Assistant Transport Planner, a role that aligns perfectly with my long-standing passion for solving transport issues. I’ve always believed that effective transportation can break down barriers to education and employment, and reduce poverty – creating a more equal society. The opportunity to work in this field, especially with such a welcoming and knowledgeable team, is incredibly exciting.

The warm reception from everyone at ttc has made my transition from university to the professional world simple. I’m eager to contribute to our shared goals and learn from my experienced colleagues, gaining the skills and insights necessary to make a meaningful impact in the world.”

ttc is excited to have George on board and looks forward to the innovative contributions he will bring to the team and our clients.
