Departures from Standards
Helping overcome highway design constraints both on the local and national highway network.
‘ttc’ has extensive experience in dealing with Departure from Standards applications, both on the local and national highway network. We have established a track record of achieving successful outcomes on sites where design standards cannot be achieved but a safe alternative can be demonstrated and agreed.
We work with the Local Highway Authority and the National Highways through their respective processes to:
- Identify and review design compliance against the relevant standards.
- Prepare alternative designs and costings for consideration.
- Prepare a Safety Risk Assessment to consider the implications of the proposed departures, in accordance with DMRB GG 104.
- Commission traffic surveys and collect Personal Injury Accident Data.
- Prepare Road Safety Audit Briefs, commission audits and prepare Design Response Reports in accordance with DMRB GG 119.
- Submit the departures application to the LHA or to National Highways through their bespoke DAS System.
