NLRP (National Grid)

Our team were the lead transport specialist on National Grids North London Reinforcement Project, which encompassed the upgrade of the north London Overhead Lines as well as corresponding improvements to three substations in order to facilitate an increase in power flow from 275,000 volts to 400,000 volts. The project was designed to accommodate London’s future power requirements and is of national importance.

To support the development, four Transport Statements, one for each of the substations and one for the Overhead Line upgrade were prepared. The work involved the assessment of potential access points, the identification of general improvements, the reconfiguration of an existing signal controlled junction and the provision of advice pertaining to the transfer of abnormal loads to one of the substations.

The abnormal load advice included liaison with the Local Planning Authority, Network Rail and National Highways. A separate report, including Swept Path Analysis, was produced and appended to the Transport Statements.
