Queen Elizabeth Lower School, Atherstone

‘ttc’ were commissioned by the Academy Transformation Trust to prepare a Transport Statement and Travel Plan in support of a planning application for a new single storey teaching building to include: seven general purpose teaching rooms, circulation, WCs and plant room, at the Queen Elizabeth Lower School off the B4116 in Atherstone.

The Transport Statement primarily considered the implication of the increases in staff and student travel and sought to quantify and mitigate key constraints and congestion points around the existing drop-off/collection points, safety concerns on the B4116, where speeding was identified as a specific issue by the Local Highway Authority, and a parking strategy to accommodate additional staff requirements.

In conjunction with the Transport Statement, a full School Travel Plan was prepared in accordance with County Council standards. A fully student/staff travel survey was conducted to determine current likely future travel behaviour, alongside an accessibility review of the school’s catchment, to determine sustainable travel options. The Transport Statement and Travel Plan were subsequently submitted.
